After much speculation about what her wedding gown would look like, Kate Middleton surprised viewers when she stepped out in a second dress for the royal wedding reception at Buckingham Palace.

The white satin gown featured a circle skirt and diamante detailing around the waist. The dress was paired with a cropped angora sweater, all by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. For the reception, Kate wore here hair in a more casual down ‘do more appropriate for the intimate gathering of only 300 guests.

Meanwhile, Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton and her sister, Pippa Middleton both wore dresses by Temperley London for the evening reception. The mother-of-the bride opted for black pleated tiers, while the maid-of-honor’s gown was emerald green silk with a jewelled embellishment on the front and sparkling silver Aruna Seth shoes.

It’s official – Prince William and Kate Middleton are now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. A true fairy tale romance, the royal couple said their “I ‘dos” this morning as the world looked on.

William dressed in his military garb and Kate shined in a show-stopping Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton. The classic long-sleeve gown featured an elegant lace appliqué bodice and a regal 9ft train. The dress was made with individual flowers hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle.

The bride was heavily involved in designing the dress – working closely with the designer to ensure it would be a combination of both the traditional and the modern, yet in keeping with the Alexander McQueen vision and attention to detail.

Her elbow-length veil was made of layers of soft, ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers. Her something borrowed was a diamond ‘Halo’ tiara by Cartier – lent to her by the Queen. The couple couldn’t look more royal if they tried!

The bridal party included Prince Harry as his brother’s best man and Pippa Middleton as one of Kate’s bridesmaids.

They exchanged vows at Westminster Abby in London, the same place William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth wed in 1947.
