I don’t think anyone can disagree that Chelsea Clinton makes a fashionable bride. She wore two custom made gowns by Vera Wang at her July 31 wedding in New York – one for the ceremony and a second one for the reception party. Can you blame her? I mean, what bride wouldn’t want to wear two dresses if she could?

Designer Vera Wang, a Clinton family friend, attended the wedding as a guest.

Her first dress – the more formal of the two – was a strapless organza gown with a layered ball skirt and beaded belt. The skirt was laser-cut for that very distinctive Vera Wang look – a truly unique style. For the reception Chelsea changed into a Grecian-style gown with a narrow, black grosgrain belt. Her equally fashion forward husband, Marc Mezvinksy, wore a custom wool-mohair mix tuxedo by Burberry.

Vera Wang also dressed the bridesmaids who wore strapless bias-cut gowns made of lavender chiffon with plum-colored bows. The designer, a Clinton family friend and guest at the wedding, said it was a “privilege” to dress Chelsea Clinton. She said the bride “radiated joy, youth and happiness.” Now that’s what I call style.

Cupcake Martinis

Cupcakes have become the new coolest trend since poodle accessories, and we just can’t get enough of them. Buttercream, coconut, or red-velvet? How about martini? These adorable martini-style cupcakes are great mini desserts to serve at your cocktail or dessert reception.

If you’re willing to forgo the alcohol (or at least some of it), it’s a great trade-off that can save you a little green on real cocktails. Consider having a dessert hour between your ceremony and reception instead of the usual cocktail hour. I have been to a wedding where the couple did this and all the guests love it!

Most bakeries will be able imitate a design based off of photos. Or better yet, get with your preferred cake designer to come up with your own interpretation. Custom cupcakes can cost anywhere from $3-$5 a piece. Ask your wedding cake provider or local bakery for details.

Yellow wedding inspiration

We have completely revamped the site with a new look and a fresh new theme to go with it. Follow me, “Fleur”, and my fabulous maid of honor (future bride-to-be) “Berlin” as we journey through the wedding planning process.

We’ll also be focusing on real, relevant information to help you plan an amazing wedding – no matter what your budget is!

Today’s post is all about summer weddings – happy, bright and a little spunky. What better color scheme to choose for a summer wedding than yellow? It’s fun and “summery”, not to mention it’s the best season for sunflowers.

It’s also a great chance to let your bridesmaids choose their own dresses. There are so many cute summer dresses that you can find at boutiques and department stores which cost much less than formal bridesmaid dresses. Plus your bridesmaids will get to wear the dresses again. Take it from someone who’s been there – your girls will definitely appreciate it.
